III is out this Tuesday...

I've sheltered my eyes from basically everything regarding this game so I hope to approach it simply as a new hack 'n slasher...

So I bought the game on battle.net, I've loaded the installer (7.6GB) and I'll probably take Tuesday off.

i've been on the fence with this one.  I loved Diablo I and II....   but..  i've changed alot in my gaming since i last played these games.  with torchlight 2 coming out sometime in the future.....    i don't know.  Part of me wants to, part of me isn't interested.

And my quick thoughts on the game thus far.

I've got about ~6hrs playtime and at lvl 10 with my barbarian.

1st, 12 years in development and they still had HOURS of downtime on launch day.  at least 4 emergency maintenance outages that lasted ~6 hours not counting the ones I didn't see.  Beyond epic fail on blizzards part. 

2nd, when able to play?  frickin dope!

Real money auction house?  Weird, not sure how cool that is.

What's with the lack of decent reviews?  I heard a rumor that it was online only, no offline single player?

That being said I am kind of tempted to play hardcore, but truthfully I'll most likely wait for Torchlight 2 on the 360.

Not a rumor, it is online only. 

Mixed feelings about that...  It ensures the hacking and cheating will be GREATLY reduced if not eliminated all together, on the other hand, it forces you to be online even when playing solo. 

That said, even in WOW, an mmorpg, I would play solo.

What it also provides is a truly seamless coop experience.  Any of my friends can join my game and I theirs.  I can also click a button to make it public if I choose.

I will run through the game at Normal difficulty once just to get a feel.  Then I'll likely do the hardcore route as I did in TL.

And you'll be waiting a loooong while, TL2 will not be an xbox360 title.  But it's going to be awesome and I will be nuying it at launch as well.

so, go get it!!!  We need more exors!!!!

A friend of mine got me hooked up with a trial code.

It certainly is a fun game, but I don't see it having any staying power for me. I won't be buying the full game.

I never made it through all of Diablo II for the same reason.

PS: Use the Witch Doctor, because they're obviously the best class!
