Race 5: The Sunset Speedway 500 (I mean 50)

General Race and Conduct information is here:

http://www.exodusracing.net/index.php?topic=354.msg2744#msg2744

For this race there will be the requirement that all drivers make a mandatory pit stop sometime after lap 5.  Pit stops made before lap 5 regardless of reason do not count for this requirement.  Pit Stops made after lap 5 for any reason will fulfill this requirement.

I cannot stress enough that situation awareness is very important, make sure you are aware of the cars around you at all times.  Unlike the road races that we're all used to there will probably only be a handful of laps where you do not have the potential to run into someoneCheesy

Remember these cars do not have brake lights!!

Watch the distance meter

Call out your positions

Look left, Look right

There will be contact!! Lets make it as painless as possible.

Should be able to make it, but considering my performances in previous races if there's 8 people in a room and someone else wants to race I'll give up my spot.

On the results spreadsheet the last sheet on the left is labeled qual form data it has everyone who has qualified for the current race.

Re: Race 5: The Sunset Speedway 500 (I mean 50)

Hoping to be there.  Gotta work until 9pm then I will run my own sunset 500 to get back to town before you guys start.  If history shows us anything it's that no exodus room starts right on time. lol  I hope this will be true tonight.

IF you had attended the TA Race last night you would have witnessed a well oiled machine starting right at 10PM EST .....for all three rooms.  It was MAGIC!!

Just ask Drift a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty who logged on at 10:05 PM only to find himself out of luck in finding a room to race in.

Re: Race 5: The Sunset Speedway 500 (I mean 50)

I plan on racing tonight but have other family things to take care of first so you probably won't see me until just before 10.  I will let you know before then if I can't make it and I hope this isn't going to be like Nascar at Talledega - do you even have to take your foot off of the gas on this track?  3-wide for 20 laps would be interesting....

No it's like 15 minutes out of town, but I get off the same time the race starts.

You cant go three wide for 20 laps as you need to draft to get the best lap times, drafting helps both the car in front and the one behind. If you decide to continually run beside someone you and them will get left behind any group that will actually draft and stay together. And no you do not have to lift except to keep from running over someone else when drafting.

But alas I will not be making the race this evening, so have fun and don't tear up too much sheet metal. Grin
